Serving the city

Swindon Night Shelter is a Christian charity serving the homeless and vulnerable in the Swindon area. They support more than 2,000 people and provide personal care and mentoring for about 30. They run a night shelter where homeless people receive a hot meal, fresh clean clothes, a chance to shower and wash clothes, a bed for the night and food to take away.

To support this work they run ‘The Hub’ and ‘The Gate’, which are coffee shops and more, providing another opportunity to share God’s love and care in the community.

We are privileged to be involved in this work, through financial support and through several members of Swindon Community Church volunteering and working for Night Shelter.

Take Art is an initiative begun by Barbara, a member of SCC, who is a talented and experienced artist. It is an Art group aimed at people with disabilities, and Barbara uses her skills to encourage people to develop their own painting work.

Sew Creative is a group that meets monthly, in various people’s homes. Whether it’s knitting, sewing, crochet or anything else, bring it along and join in the fun and the chat! It goes without saying that refreshments are provided….
