Blessed is the man

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.                                (Psalm 1:1-3)

Sometimes we forget how blessed we are.   What does that mean, anyway?  The New Living Translation says  Oh the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked.   The Passion version puts it this way:  What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways.   And the Message dares to interpret it:  How well God must like you !!

In times of difficulty or disappointment it is easy to forget how ‘blessed’ we really are, to overlook the ‘joys’ and ‘delight’ and even to wonder just how much God really ‘likes’ us.

So let’s review some of our Blessings.

Before the world was made, God chose you.
He loved you so much that He marked you out to be adopted into His family.
You are so precious to Him that He gave His own Son to die to save you.
You are absolutely forgiven, for everything past, present and future.
You exist for His praise and glory.
God has filled you with His Spirit – as a down payment on all the riches that He has in store for you.    (All the above can be found in Ephesians 1)
He has promised to provide everything you need in life.
He will never ever leave you, or turn away from you.
He is preparing an eternal home for you, in His presence.

How much more can you add to this list?
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, and know for sure that you are blessed!

Be blessed today.
