What a glorious morning!  Pure blue sky, gentle breeze, blossom on all the trees, and beautiful sunshine over it all!    Don’t you just love the Springtime?  Oh, I know people talk about the autumn colours, or the wonders of the crisp, newly fallen winter snow.  But for me there’s nothing like the Spring, with everything bursting into life again, filling the atmosphere with joy and promise – and apparently not even noticing that we are in the middle of a pandemic!  Just looking out the window somehow puts a smile on your face, in spite of all the current limitations and difficulties.

Yesterday we were thinking about our amazing God of covenant.  We saw how He set His love upon mankind, expressing it through Abraham and his descendants.  And how He committed Himself to bless His covenant people: to provide for them, to protect them from enemies, to lead them in the right direction, to give them peace and prosperity.

Mankind has often fallen short in his relationship with the God of covenant.  Again and again we have turned our backs on His path of blessing, thinking we knew better how to run our lives.   But whenever we have returned to Him, God in His faithfulness has restored us, loved us, filled us with His joy again.
His character is faithfulness, and He cannot be otherwise.  The rainbow is our reminder of His faithfulness, and the promise of God is never-ending:  ‘As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease’.  (Gen 8:22)

So Springtime is here again, right on schedule…..
